About the Role
NxtPro Talent Group is seeking a Senior Transportation Design  Project Manager with expertise in Transportation Design to join our clients practice.
In this role, you will help identify strategic opportunities, manage client relationships, ensure efficient project execution, and contribute to the overall planning and growth of the practice area. You will be responsible for guiding project teams (comprising Design Leads and Engineers) throughout the project lifecycle—from preparing compelling proposals to leading the team through project execution, which includes budgeting, scheduling, meeting technical requirements, managing client communications, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

Position Overview:  This role will collaborate with our talented Design Leads and Engineers to support and drive the success of our transportation design projects. The key objectives of this role include:

  • Leadership in project management

  • Driving business development initiatives

  • Supervising and mentoring team members

  • Overseeing departmental operations and long-term planning

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Leadership: Lead transportation design teams in delivering projects of various scopes and complexities, ensuring the completion of each project phase on time and within budget. (Approximately 50% of the role)

  2. Business Development: Drive the pursuit of new projects, including building relationships and engaging in business development activities that position the firm for success in future proposals. Stay active in industry organizations to foster ongoing relationships. (Approximately 35% of the role)

  3. Team Management & Operations: Oversee team performance, manage group operations, and play a key role in the strategic planning of the department. Focus on acquiring and developing the talent needed to achieve business goals. (Approximately 15% of the role)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.S.) with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (Colorado or ability to obtain licensure)

  • Extensive experience in Transportation Design Engineering Project Management, with a proven track record in successful business development

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 6 years in project management and business development

  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver large-scale transportation projects successfully

  • In-depth expertise in Transportation Design, including areas such as Drainage, Structures, Traffic, and Roadway

  • Experience in mentoring and developing team members, setting goals, providing performance feedback, and supporting career development

  • Knowledge of industry trends and the ability to identify and recruit talent for future team needs

  • Experience working with CDOT and local agencies, including the development of strategic relationships

  • A strong network within the industry, actively building business opportunities through client engagement, strategic pursuits, and participation in conferences and marketing events

  • Expertise in creating and executing sales and marketing strategies, along with establishing key metrics for success

  • Ability to assess new markets and identify organizational capabilities to support future growth

  • Skilled in evaluating bid decisions, performing risk analyses, and making data-driven recommendations

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including Design, Bridge/Structure, Construction Management, and Operations teams


Location: Colorado Springs, CO OR Denver, CO
HYBRID onsite and REMOTE

Compensation range:
$140,000-$190,000 (FLSA Exempt). This is an estimated pay range. Final pay rate will be determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, job related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
